Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,
|
We are now
holding SYF workshops all over the US in over 400 denominations.
SYF is a great vehicle for introducing EE as it is used in the local
church and the incarcerated church. We are receiving a good response
through SYF workshops for volunteers and support to our prison ministry
effort. Our ultimate plan is to train our prison ministry leadership team
to teach these SYF workshops in the local church.
During the
months of April & May I had the honor of teaching SYF at local
churches in California , Florida and Tennessee
. Each of these churches had representation from several different church
affiliations. It was so wonderful to see clergy and lay leaders of
differing backgrounds work together to learn a proven simple
to use, easy to learn, hard to forget
method of sharing the gospel.
The post
workshop evaluations were outstanding and reflected the sincere heart of
the students. Some of the comments were:
.
. it answers questions that everyday people are concerned with.
.
. .the presentation is very down to earth and understandable.
.
. .now I don't have to fear not having all the answers when someone asks
about my faith. I am now confident in how to lead others to Jesus.
We covet your
prayers and support as we pursue His visions of implementing EE in every
prison in the U.S.
over the next twenty years. We are seven years into this plan, and, if we
continue to educate, equip and train the local church, I believe we will
see the vision come into fruition in less than twenty years. But, we need
your prayers and support.
SYF, the EE
Study along with Prison Ministry Extended Clinics are the vehicles that
the Lord has given us to inform, equip & train the local church for
community outreach and prison ministry. If your church or community group
would be interested in a workshop or prison ministry seminar, please contact
our office.

Extended Clinic
|
During the month of May, Rev. Keith Hutchings and I taught an
annual Evangelism Explosion Leadership Clinic at Second
Ebenezer Baptist
Church in Detroit , Michigan
. We had twenty-two clinicians from seven different states. During four
hours of On-The-Job training we shared the gospel to 80 people and 54
responded for salvation.
The clinic local church training started on Monday and ended
at 4 pm on Friday. The prison ministry extension began on Friday at 4:30
p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m. The PM extension was well attended and the
post evaluations were excellent. We are starting to hold these PM
extension at our standard five day EE clinics around the country. We
are scheduled for seven extended clinics this year. Our ultimate goal is
to have our PM extension at ever EE Leadership clinic in the US .
There are 34 standard US
clinics scheduled in 2007.
Thank you, Rev. Hutchings and Pastor Vann and the Second
Ebenezer Baptist church for your support in hosting this annual EE clinic
for your community and the different churches represented. Because of
your faithfulness and vision, lives will be saved, the church will be
better equipped to obey the great commission, and God is glorified.

Spring Hill
High School Assembly, Columbia, TN

While in Tennessee , I had
the pleasure of presenting music and speaking with the freshman class at Spring Hill
High School in Columbia , TN
in a special assembly. At the request of their teacher, Ms. Victoria
Williams, they wrote their thoughts on the assembly. Thank you, Victoria,
Principal Callahan and the school faculty for the invitation and the warm
and sincere welcome.
Below, are some excerpts from student letters:
I went to an assembly today and I thought it was great! At first I
thought it was going to be boring. When he took the flute out, I knew it
would be a little better. When he started singing he caught me off guard.
It instantly turned from boring to exciting. I was surprised at how good
of a singer he was.
The reverend was more inspiring than anyone I have met before. He was
the first to actually have everyone listen to what he was saying. Then he
told us a story about the bridge. At first I thought is was untrue, but
slowly came to realize that it could very well happen. The way he
interacted with us was great. Taylor
. . . He is very caring about what we do in our future and is
trying to keep us from making bad decisions. He has a very unique way of
getting his point across. He is very energetic. He was funny. Matt
. . . I believe that the presentation that Mr. Hallett gave to us this
morning was very good. It gave us all a good message to think about in
our lives. It taught us to listen to those who try to help us along our life
and that we need to make sure we are making the right decisions. It gave
us good advice to follow and help better our lives. - Alex
. . he also talked to us about road blocks in our lives and he told
about a guy who was willing to give up his life to save others. I think
that he should keep doing what he's doing, because he had everybody's
attention and we had a good time. He could change people's lives around.
- Dionte
. . . I really have respect for him since he goes every day to
different prisons around the world. His mission is to try to get people
that have done wrong things in the past on the right path. I know because
my uncle has been in prison and he was addressed by one of these
reverends and it changed his life around for the better. After he got out
of prison, he started schooling to become a minister and will graduate
next year. Nick
This morning the freshman class was asked to attend an assembly. We
didn't know what it was about. We expected it to be something boring and
basically pointless. It turned out to be very insightful. A reverend, by
the name of Mr. Art came to speak with us. He talked to us about
roadblocks in our lives that were put there to help us.
The first thing that I noticed about Mr. Art was his charisma. He made
you want to listen to what he had to say. He talked to us a little bit
about abstinence. I completely agree with what he had to say. He also
played the flute and sang songs for us. I believe that he left everyone
in a very upbeat mood. - Leah
. . . During our assembly Mr. Hallett talked about many things.
Stories were told about how we must all make our own choices in life. He
explained how during life we must face the choices we make and the
consequences of those choices. Despite all the serious topics, Mr. Hallett
kept everything fun by singing songs. I think it was great how he tried
to interact with everyone and just have a good time. Shayleen

Praise
the Lord! The congregation of Community Bible Chapel funded over 600
Bibles for the inmates in West Liberia, Africa
. Thank you, Pastor Larry & Mary Woomert for presenting this
opportunity to your church and thank you, CBC church for responding to
this need. Also, thanks to Jesse at Living Word Bookstore ( Sarasota , FL
) for his assistance in obtaining the Bibles. This eternal gift of
God's Word will reach countless people throughout the African prison

The
EE ministry at Folsom Correctional Facility is underway. I was joined by
Rev Philip Hicks (EEPM Field Representative) and several volunteers from
local churches in the surrounding communities for a pulpit worship
service at Folsom. Everyone participated and gave testimony and words of
devotion and encouragement. Six responded for salvation through Jesus.
Please
pray with us for our Folsom EE ministry. This is our first EE class and
we have 9 students. As of this letter, they are now in the 12th week of
training and getting ready to graduate. There are always a lot of
challenges in the start up of the first class. Rev Hicks has been doing a
great job conducting the class; however, he will be moving to another
state and will need to be replaced. We have talked with several potential
volunteers who could take his place, but we don't have a commitment.
Please, pray that someone steps up to the plate to help continue the
training.
We
are truly grateful for the support of Sr. Chaplain Stewart and his
assistance in the administration of the class. Please pray for him and
his leadership.
Help
us honor the Lord. Pray.
